The Story of me2u

Once upon a time there was a princess that loved to shop. One beautiful spring day she happened upon a flea market and decided to give it a whirl. It didn’t take long for her to realize that this was the most splendid array of treasures she had ever seen! She found beauty in the charmingly tattered wares of the past. Suddenly her eyes met a scrumptious little vintage deer with big blue dreamy doe eyes. The princess quietly gasped to herself and gently lifted the deer close to her. “Oh dear, I love you”, she whispered. “Me too you”, whispered the deer.

"Autumn, the year's last, loveliest smile."

Yesterday, the 9th of October mind you, I saw the first Chrismtas TV Commercial of the year. I felt the electricity building from deep in my gut...NO, not electricity as in excitement for the season, but pure anxiety as in..whaaaaat?? it's here again already?? I don't think I've entirely "re-grouped" yet from LAST Christmas!! NOOOOOOOOOO!!! In the midst of my overwhelm I headed to the room where I always go to find my calm. THE KITCHEN...DUH...THAT'S WHERE THE FOOD IS!!! Anyhow, with the cupboards bare of candy, cookies etc...waaaaaay in the back.....behind the cereal...the lil blue box was peering out, almost whispering to me...Yodel-oh-ee-hoo! Swiss Miss Instant Cocoa!! That'll do!! Sweet and chocolatey! While the water was heating in the microwave, my only thought was, too bad I don't have some cute lil mini marshmallows to top it off. I only have the giant ones leftover from making smore's. Um...Smore's? So there it was..I was quickly roasting a giant marshmallow over the open flame of my stovetop and yodel-ing a tune! My "aha", Smore's Cocoa, food binge moment created a respite from my angst over the holiday that is barreling in like a freight train, any day now. I was able to sip, (well okay, slurp) my way into a a relaxed state. Relaxed enough to have this "aha" moment: I am always so stressed about the upcoming holiday, I think I have forgotton to truly enjoy fall. Fall represents change and there is lots of that going on around me. A change in our daily schedule, a new spin on peddling my wares (slowly but surely building my shop on etsy http://www.etsy.com/shop/me2uvintage ), our Grandson turned one, our adult kids have all moved out of the house. It is a gorgeous fall day. I can embrace it, breathe it in, and enjoy every moment of it, if I choose to. This year I will not let fall pass me by. Change is what you make it and how you choose to respond to it. "Autumn, the year's last, loveliest smile." If you doubt that at all, just make some Smore's Cocoa and breathe. Happy October!
